MURAL MATCH 4

Coldtowne Theatre

A red and white mural match with my old chum Jeff. This is possibly the last Austin one we'll do in quite a while since we quit this town in a week! Actually, I should stop fannying around on the internet and continue packing my life into cardboard.

Last night was our going away/Tacks listening party at my work and I got many warm hugs and high fives. It isn't hard to leave this city, but it will be hard not to see these friends I've made over the last decade and a half without a four hour drive beforehand. On the upside, our new house has guest quarters! Come and visit us.

Mommy's day out

I never put any photo proof of the escape from mommyhood day that I had when Evan took the babies to Houston, it really did happen. We joined Pops at the swanky Driskill for brunch, then they all drove away.

Woohoo! I felt like William Wallace in Braveheart and wanted to paint my face fiercely blue and howl "FREEDOM!" but instead I called my Miranda- visiting from New York and swung by to get Jeff and we drank too much coffee, drove around town waiting for our favorite food trailer to open, took pictures of Miranda's old building destined for demolition, and sat on at least ten different patios absorbing vitamin D, caffeine, salsa, tacos, tecates, and the joy of a completely unproductive day.

We attempted to visit the East Austin Studio tour but got there just as they were closing up, ran into good friends at The Grackle and then alas, I had to go to work. Luckily, my job often feels like a party, so I rode my fake vacation all the way through 'til the next day and slept in like a slothful princess. (my first night without babies EVER)

Guilty Brunch Pleasure

There are few things I crave more than a lovely brunch on a patio with good coffee and good company. Austin does brunch very well and it is one of our favorite & few splurges to search out the most delectable and affordable around. Dolce Vita's paninis and gelato or Yellow Jacket's fritattas and french toast (made from bread pudding!) are two wins from this month. Looking forward to soup weather...

Kiss my Koffee

Sometimes, you're just really hard up for a baby sitter.

Okay, it's just Jeff, dressed as Gene Simmons, pretending to be me. Back in the baby Ruby days when we still had enough spare time to execute cockamamie photo schemes like this one.

I feel like I used to be funnier, weirder, but now I'm just tired all the time. Did all my life force go into my children? Are they using it to destroy my house? No. But sometimes it feels that way. Boundless energy encapsulated in cute, swaddled in diapers*, wrapped in a tortilla, popped into my mouth. Delicious naughty birds.

Anyway, "Unkie" Jeff Klein heads one of Evan's bands My Jerusalem that I've mentioned before and has a new blog and some free microphone and album giveaway. Thought I'd kill two birds with one stone and post these awesome old pictures and give you the link to win win win. Make sure you check out their new video featuring my mister playing every instrument.
Happy Tuesday!
