We were privileged to attend the wedding of the year last weekend. Vince and Dara made it legal out at the mystifying and beautiful Trois Estates near Enchanted Rock and just went ahead and made a full out festival of it. (I actually filmed a movie out here five years ago, Poe's "Cask of Amontillado". It was fun to return and to wear a dress instead of a walkie talkie)
We were put up in a hotel (Jesse's first) with a beautiful pool and hot waffles for breakfast, and we stayed the whole weekend, feasting, swimming, dancing and rejoicing with our friends.
The estate where the ceremony was held is actually an entire adobe village outside of Fredericksburg, Texas complete with lodging for guests, on site restaurant, underground swimming grotto, tiny chapel, epic domed hall with hundreds of stuffed animal heads and the world's largest cap gun museum.
There were rock bands, delicious foods, a cake shaped like a cat, flowing drinks, beautiful girls in beautiful gowns, laughter, tears, and animatronic camels. People will be talking about this one for years, and ever since our 3am foray to the underground swimming cave we can't stop saying "Grottobottom."
Vince and Dara, may your love blossom like a cactus flower, you crazy awesome kids.
