108

Thankfully, we've had rain this week to wash some of the dust out of our lives, but a few days ago it was one hundred and eight degrees. Again. Desperate times call for desperate water abuse, a.k.a. let's put the sprinkler under the trampoline!

Extra Danger=Extra fun

Jesse was dubious.

Then he got over it.

Even Husband magically appeared wearing swimming trousers when I thought he was slaving away in the studio. (his window faces the back yard) I love a man who has his priorities straight.

Think you don't have the time of day to be silly?
Here's a great article about "busyness" that might help.
Happy Thursday.

Sew Amazing

I taught Ruby to sew the other day. She's four. Four-year-olds are like tiny people! When olympians are interviewed and asked the inevitable question "At what age did you start swimming/running/throwing metal balls?" Do you know what they always say? "Four."

I could get shipwrecked, eaten by tigers and my bones washed out to sea and Ruby could live in the jungle alone, eating papayas and wearing a loin cloth, NO PROBLEM. She's smart, she's strong, she's learning to read and now she can do the running stitch on a pre-packaged make-your-own-hello-kitty kit.

It feels like a lot of pressure, what kind of lessons should we start her on?? Dance? Soccer? Kung Fu? She has ready access to pianos, keyboards, guitars, drums, various mouth harps and ukuleles and an entire room full of art supplies. We sing, we dance, we books haha, we jump on the trampoline in our skivvies with the sprinkler underneath. However, I wouldn't mind if she started cranking out paintings that sell for a cool $27,000 like this other four-year-old.

'Merica!

Happy Independence Day you guys. We're spending it recovering from a late night of slumber partying and just caught wind of a bouncy castle nearby. Armed with chicken sausages and bug spray, we'll go backyard party crashin' with the whole family!

Again, I can't remember holidays and am unprepared for blowing things up with fire but luckily the monsters are too young to feel the injustice. Last night I did make a very north american dish for the first time, hot wings with bleu cheese dressing. Well, I guess they were hot legs seeing that I used full sized drumsticks. Gross/Delicious.

I am glad we live in the States. I know we have it good here, but I also dream of dragging these children all over the salty globe someday. Everyone vote Tacks for band of the year, we'll send you a postcard.

Today, this life we've made is like a bowl of........well. YOU know.

shades of a slumber party

They say "write what you know". I wonder if that holds true for photography? If so I must be an aficionado of short dimpled humans. Here are yet more photos of children partying. We just can't stop.
